Cathy’s Joke

Crushed nuts! No, arthritis……

A little old man shuffled slowly into an ice cream parlor and pulled himself slowly, painfully, up onto a stool…
After catching his breath, he ordered a banana split.
The waitress asked kindly, ‘Crushed nuts?’
‘No,’ he replied, ‘Arthritis.’

Announcements

  • Chip RawsonPresident Tony reminded us that we do need to pay an early leaver fine of $5.00 when we have to leave a meeting early.
  • Casey D’ Angelo announced we could still use another mentor as we have the largest number of high school signups.
  • Shari Shamsavari brought a Rotary banner from North Guadelajara to our club and presented it to President Tony.
  • Ann Gospe asked for those who have paid for lunches in advance to sign in each meeting then head straight to the chicken!
  • Chip Rawson needed someone to line up helpers each month to help at club meetings. Pete Lescure volunteered. Atta boy, Pete!
  • Craig Meltzner is looking for additional host families for our inbound exchange student this year.

Recognitions

President Tony with the World Cup souvenir on his head, and banner in hand brought back by the Gosepe’s on their recent trip to France!Craig Meltzner was recognized for his trip to the northeast. Craig’s daughter Rachel is expecting a child in a couple of weeks. Craig brought back a jar of maple sugar which was auctioned off to Judi Glenn for $40.00.

Sam McMillan donated fair tickets including parking for auction. Dan Balfe and Craig Meltzner won in semi-heated bidding for $20 each. Tickets for a barbecue dinner and auction for 4 was offered as well. They were purchased by Peter Lescure for $40.

Kris Anderson was recognized for $25.00 for attending some kind of pyro party? Grass is kinda dry out there, Kris – be careful!

President Tony auctions of the World Cup hat! Ann and Jeff Gospe were recognized for their European vacation. Jeff played the part of Chevy Chase and Ann the part of Beverly D’Angelo in this five week tale about an American family traveling through Europe. Jeff and Ann brought back a commemorative hat from a soccer match in France. Jeff also brought a Rotary banner from a French Rotary club.

The Gospe’s generously donated $500 for fire relief in celebration of their vacation and 11th anniversary. Tony decided that rather than wear the hat, he’d auction it off. Pete Lescure bought it for $50.

Just a reminder that proceeds from recognitions go to fire relief efforts.

Editor’s Note:

In the July 27th Bulletin , I misidentified Kathleen Balfe as Steve Baime’s daughter. I should have identified Dan Balfe as Kathleen’s father. Dan earned a PH Award in honor of his daughter Kathleen and her significant other Eugenio Perez. My apologies to all concerned.  LB
