Sonoma Chocolatiers
David Gambill
Voted the best Chocolatier in Sonoma County for four years in a row, we are delighted to have David Gambill as our speaker on November 15th. Sonoma Chocolatiers is a small, family run artisan chocolate company, located in Sebastopol and opened in 2008, which uses organic and local ingredients, does not cover the flavor of fine chocolate by adding more sugar, and uses recycled materials for their packaging.
David will share his vision and road to success, describe more of the production process and his unique flavor choices. Their products are sold at farmers’ markets and on the internet, as well as wholesale and retail stores, wineries, gourmet stores, caterers, chefs, and restaurants in Sonoma and surrounding counties.
David will also bring with him samples of his luscious truffles for all of us to enjoy. You may want to bring your checkbook to buy more! He also added to the festivities of our Giro Bello Expo last June by manning a booth and giving free samples to our riders

Sunshine Report:
Gesine Franchetti’s mom has passed away as well as Tony Roehrick’s sister. Our hearts go out to them and their families.
Raffle:
Back to 10 marbles per Mike Moore. Larry Miyano had the right number but did not pull the correct marble. A second raffle was for some of Debi Zaft’s homemade caramels. That went to Steve Olson.
Joke of the Day:
Cathy says this story was based on fact. Hummmm….. It was about using whole chickens to test windows of airplanes, jets, rockets etc. It was a huge fiasco in Great Britain. They contacted the folks who did the original testing to see what they did wrong. The reply came back, “Defrost the chickens first.”
LARCA Fire Fund Report:
Doug Johnson reported that they have received some $1,350,000 thus far; $1,000,000 coming from the Redwood Credit Union Fire Fund. They are looking for business, home based businesses in particular that were not adequately insured. Applications to receive funds are on the LARCA website.
December Rotarian of the Month:
Duh! Of course it is Doug Johnson. He is a blessing to our club in so many ways. Most recently working with LARCA, and saving Giro Bello, and working with New Gen.
President Elect Elect Elect……
We all know that Tony Roehrick will be president next year and Cathy Vicini the year after that. The good news is that Jeff Kolin is our new president-elect, elect, elect (or something like that) for the 2020-2021 year! What fabulous news for our club!
Announcements:
If you bought a raffle ticket for the fire relief today you got a free bottle of pinot from Trecini! Cathy had quite a few take her up on that offer!
Speaking of the raffle; Ray Giampaoli has a form so that we can take credit cards for buying tickets. Please get a copy from him.
December 16th is the Nutcracker Ballet in Rohnert Park. Steve Baime is looking for cookie bakers. Please let him know ASAP if you can help.
Also on December 16th is a social at Julia Parranto and Rose Frances’ house. It will also be the official auction of the meat from the Sonoma County Fair auctions. Bring your check book. Samples will be served.
The Rotary International President, Ian H.S. Riseley, is coming to California!
On January 3rd he will be speaking in San Jose at a dinner. Tickets are available to purchase if you would like to go. HOWEVER if you are a Rotarian and a victim of the fires we have a special treat for you! He will be at a special lunch at the Flamingo on January 4th! He is bringing Rotary pins to replace all those that got lost in the fires. He is also going to be planting a tree (or trees) somewhere in Santa Rosa.

Introducing Casey Carter…Our Newest Member!
Casey is new to our club, but not to Rotary. She was an outstanding member of the Calistoga Club for many years, but she now is working as a chiropractor, acupuncturist and functional medicine practitioner at Tucker Chiropractic at 255 Farmers Lane. She must be good because she came with written recommendations from the Rotary Club of Calistoga and she has 9 5-star reviews on Yelp! Kim Murphy is her assigned mentor.
Rotary Minute:
Doug Chase has had a difficult year with the loss of his wife Robbie and the fire. He really appreciates “community times three” of Rotary; interaction, local and a personal cheering section. It really has made a difference to him.
Our program today was harpist Christina Zieminski. She played a selection of Christmas and other songs for our entertainment. Thanks to Keven Brown for making the arrangements.
