The current popularity of forensic fare on television with shows like “CSI”, and “”NCIS”, has led the general public is toward a skewed view of the true nature of forensic investigation – commonly called the “CSI Effect.” In this presentation Dr. Wood will dispel this myth as it relates to forensic dentistry. This course is an overview of forensic dentistry. Topics will include forensic dental identification, pattern injuries as they relate to bite mark investigation, and dental response in mass disasters.

Dr. Wood is an active member of his community. He is a member of the Cloverdale Rotary Club. He is serving in his second term as a member of the Healdsburg City Council and as the Mayor for 2010 and 2014. Dr. Wood serves on several regional boards and commissions for the City of Healdsburg.

Dr. Wood is a Forensic Dental Consultant to five Northern California counties and the California Department of Justice Missing/Unidentified Persons Unit.  He was a co-founder of the California Dental Identification team. Dr Wood is also a member of the Federal Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team and served in the identification efforts at the World Trade Center after 9/11 and in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. He has lectured extensively throughout the country in the field of Forensic Dentistry.
