The Mountain Play started in 1913. With some gaps (like WWII), plays or other performances have been done annually ever since. All performances are from an open air amphitheater 2000 feet up on Mt Tamalpais in Mill Valley that seats 4,000. Since 1978, we have presented six performances over five weeks of a classic musical from mid-May to mid-June. In 2013, we are celebrating 100 years of the Mountain Play with “The Sound of Music”.
Dick Matthews will be our speaker. He grew up in New Jersey, and moved to Marin (from Boston) in 1974 with Arthur Andersen & Co. He had a 23 year corporate career with a computer/software company called SunGard, which he retired from in 2007. Dick began his tenure on the Board of the Mountain Play at that time. Dick lives with his wife of 40 years in San Rafael, and they have two grown boys now living in LA and NYC.
