Real Talk about Homelessness in our Community
Angie Sparks from Community Support Network (CSN) will bring us local insight into a hot topic these days: homelessness. See how, for 45 years, a homegrown nonprofit has been housing and rehabilitating hundreds of homeless individuals with mental health challenges. Learn how CSN saves Sonoma County millions of dollars annually by providing supportive housing to youth (18-24) and adults, and how interventions for these populations address the cycle of homelessness in our community.
Angie is the Community Development Coordinator for CSN. Her for-profit and nonprofit marketing experience spans from Hawaii to both Southern and Northern California. She ran the state-wide Clear the Smoke anti-tobacco campaign for Hawaii, developed an award-winning PR campaign for one of the largest US malls, Ala Moana Center, and has brought her skills to bear locally in raising awareness about the concurrent issues of homeless and mental illness in Sonoma County.
She sits on the Wellness and Housing Subcommittee of the Sonoma County Homeless Youth Task Force, and volunteers her time mentoring transitional age youth. For 15 years, Sparks has mentored youth and teens, which has taken her throughout Northern California and on tours in the Pacific, including Pohnpei, Chuuk, Guam and Fiji, as well as to New Zealand and Mexico City. A native of Northern California, Angie has made Sonoma County her home. She holds BAs in English and Religion from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
