After Red Badger Tim Delaney’s craft talk last May, most of his fellow Rotarians realized that he was no ordinary financial expert. He is an avid pilot, owns his own airplane, a member of the Pacific Coast Air Museum and a Sonoma County Airport Commissioner. Next Wednesday, Tim reveals how he got invited to fly aboard the 38-year-old aircraft carrier USS Nimitz for a 24 hour visit. In February of 2009, the nuclear-powered carrier was 100 miles off shore San Diego when Tim landed the C-2 COD (Carrier On-board Delivery) on the flight deck of the Nimitz. He will describe the abrupt tail hook landing, the even more exciting catapult takeoff, and tell us what it was like to spend 24 hours aboard a Nimitz class carrier at sea, and relate some of his conversations Tim Delaney with the officers and crew.
