Santa Rosa native and member of the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa since 2006, Jeff Gospe was honored to lead District 5130’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) team to District 1750: Burgundy-Champagne in April/May 2012. Consisting of four wine professionals from Sonoma & Napa Counties, this year’s exchange had a vocational focus on the wine industry in Burgundy and Champagne.
GSE is an educational program of The Rotary Foundation wherein Rotary districts in different countries are paired to send and receive professional study groups of non-Rotarian team members and one Rotarian team leader to travel for four to six weeks, staying in the homes of Rotarians. GSE offers a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women in their initial years of professional life to enhance Rotary’s worldwide mission.
Jeff Gospe began studying French at 7, and his first overseas experience was as an exchange student to France at 15 (then Germany at 17 and Poland at 21). He was educated at Stanford University in Soviet & East European affairs and languages, later advising multinational corporations and East bloc governments on privatization and transition to market capitalism in the late 80s/early 90s. He returned home to Sonoma County to manage a large business consulting firm, and now works at Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor and investment manager.
Within his local Rotary club, Jeff focuses his international interests on world community service, group study exchange, and youth exchange programs.
