Assisting Local Businesses With The
Covid Virus Shut Downs

Peter Rumble –
CEO of the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber

Peter provides leadership and coordination on critical issues such as housing, workforce development, advocacy, tourism promotion, and downtown revitalization. Since joining the Chamber, Peter’s team has received state and national recognition including from the US Chamber and White House. Peter’s team has expanded the organization’s career development programs in local middle and high schools, launched an employer-sponsored child care initiative, established an employers housing council to invest in workforce housing – including a housing fund for affordable housing, and created several new programs to support the growth of small business in Sonoma County. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Peter has helped develop a framework for reopening the economy safely, advocated for investments in small business, developed recommendations for economic recovery, and launched a small business emergency relief program.

Don’t forget to sign up for our Hands-On project at the Redwood Empire Food Bank on August 27th from 2:00 to 4:00.  We need at least 6 more volunteers.

Good news!  President Jeff and Patty as well as Kim and john Graves are moving back into their Fountain Grove homes this week!  Welcome home at long last!

Charlie Howard-Gibbon is the new head of the Hands-On project committee.  If you want to help, let him know.  He is actively looking for more projects.

President Jeff donated because Elyse and Tom are relocating to Santa Rosa.  He is so excited to have them be local again!  Julia Parranto  went down to Monterey to just hear the ocean with her visiting brother.

Sunshine Report:

Dan Balfe’s knee surgery was successful.  Will Haymaker’s younger brother passed away after a sudden heart attack.  Recently we reported that Jose Guillen’s parents and two sisters got Covid after attending a church service.  We are sad to say that his mother has passed away.  His father is still very ill, but his sisters have recovered at home

This week’s Program:  Transcendence Theatre

Amy Miller and Erika Conaway spoke to us about what the theatre group has been up to since the world got shut down in March.  As most of you know they are broadcasting recorded performances from the last several years.  They have been working hard on equitable access to arts education in the area.  They have worked with the kids at Dunbar
Elementary School, as well as Sotheby’s Wine Country Real Estate and Google.  They would like to do more training and online classes.  Matthew Henry said he was interested in finding out what they could do with the YMCA. Jack Atkin asked about the rumor that they might move to the Sonoma Developmental Center, but the question was expertly skirted!
