Outstanding Firefighter, Police Officer, and Sheriff’s Deputy of the Year

A revered tradition of our club is our annual Lee Abramson Public Safety Awards program in which we honor the outstanding Firefighter, Police Officer, and, Sheriff’s Deputy of the Year from the Santa Rosa Fire Department, the Santa Rosa Police Department, and, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department for their outstanding public service to our community in their prior year of service.

These dedicated public service leaders are selected by the members of their departments for their exceptional contributions.

Our program honoring the outstanding 2021 Santa Rosa Firefighter/Paramedic, Tim Aboudara, Police Officer, Jason Jucutan, and, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputy, Lieutenant Andy Cash was held on January 19th, 2022.

They along with their chiefs and their departments’ teams, navigated, bravely led, and, even innovated during 2021 in the midst of turbulent times, in the face of heightened threats, COVID illness and death in their ranks, and, loss. They put their lives on the line daily for us.

The awards program was a well-deserved tribute to three exemplary professionals with nearly 90 attendees on Zoom including the awardees’ families, friends, and other distinguished guests including former Mayor Tom Schwedhelm, and, new City Manager, Maraskeshia Smith.

Public Health Awards

Public Health is essential to Public Safety as SARS-CoV 2 made evident. In 2021, our club launched its inaugural Public Health Awards program. However, due to COVID restrictions, the awards program was postponed to the spring of 2022.

On March 16, 2022, our club honored three Sonoma County Public Health leaders, Dr. Sundari Mase, Health Officer, Dr. Kismet Baldwin, Deputy Health Officer, and, Dr. Rachel Rees, Director of the Public Health Laboratory for their 2020-2021 leadership in protecting the public’s health along with their teams throughout the earliest phase of the novel SARS-CoV 2 pandemic.

These exceptionally qualified professionals continued to lead a full array of Public Health services as well as their COVID Disease Control Surveillance and Response duties during that time.
