VICE MAYOR JACK TIBBETTS IN CONVERSATION
Jack Tibbetts
Council member and Vice Mayor Jack Tibbetts will join us on June 14th. He will share how the City Council will move forward based on the election results of June 6th. We now know that the Rent Control Initiative failed, while the Cannabis Tax Initiative on businesses passed. What are other priorities before the City Council? What concerns do you have?
Jack is currently the Executive Director for Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Sonoma County. Additionally, he serves our community on several boards and commissions.
Join us for an information conversation with Jack. Perhaps he will even mention one of his other passions – tiny houses.

President elect Julia Parranto took a test drive at the podium today and flawlessly ran the meeting in the absence of El Presidente Jose, who is still in Colombia on a court consulting assignment.

The Raffle
With something like $80-85 in the pot, guest speaker/performer Michael Capella had his number called. He was unable, however to pull the lucky marble, but walked away with a $10 consolation prize.
Announcements
- Debi Zaft announced that the squares are nearly filled for the next Instant Paul Harris drawing.
- Pete Lescure offered Giro Bello volunteer opportunities to those wanting to rise early and help with traffic at 6AM (I think).
- Doug Johnson appealed for people to sign the sheets going around to attend the Debunking Dinner Party that will be held in El Presidente Jose’s honor on June 28th at 5:30PM. Dinner is $35.00 a sitting and includes a sit-down dinner, hors d’oeuvres and wine. Anyone wanting to participate in the debunking committee is urged to tell Doug.
- Jeff Kolin again reminded us of career opportunities (well, that might be an exaggeration) in service above self by volunteering for Giro Bello. He knows where you live! Don’t make him come to your house!
June Birthdays
PROGRAM
Today’s subject was songwriting, and back by popular demand Teresa Tudury and Michael Capella returned along with Layne Bowen to talk about the songwriting process and sing some original songs.
Teresa, Michael & Layne have recently released new recordings. Michael sang the title song of the new MCB (Michael Capella Band) cd, You Gotta Have Heart with band member Layne backing him up. Michael also performed a brand new song that he wrote at a songwriters retreat last week that was inspired by his relationship with his brothers. Layne shared the first original song he ever recorded, To Have to Say Goodbye. The song was included in the original Sonoma “Connections”, a compilation of songs by Sonoma County artists compiled by Last Record Store and Jackalope records owner Doug Jayne in the 1990’s.
Teresa writes songs with intelligence and humor, informed by her past career in LA as a comedy writer and performer. She has been described as, “Part chanteuse, part comedian, part bonafide pop artist with a voice that could stop a war!” (Let’s hope she doesn’t have to!) Teresa recently released a new cd called, “Such Fine Things”. Today, she performed Miss America which in a wistful and humorous way describes the difficult state our country is in politically and culturally.
The day was capped off with a rousing singalong of Teresa’s hilarious song Chinese Underwear.
