Rotary Announcements

See the Announcements section below.

Opening Ceremonies:

“Welcome to the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa. Where we do good in the world and have fun doing it!” Says President Ann Gospe.

Diane Moresi led us in the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-Way Test. Her Reflection was a quote from Queen Elizabeth from 2017 on the friendship between Great Britain and the United States.

Visitors:

Kevin Conway, Nancy Conway, Debbie Yamagishi, Dori Estrella, Mel Konrad and Lisa T.

Sunshine Report:

Jim and Barbara Green have Covid but are OK. Joan Rossi is finished with her cancer treatment and is now on medication to keep her healthy.  Rose Frances says she hopes to be out of bed, finally, on Monday February 19.  She has good mobility in her right knee and the left is almost as good.  The fracture of her left leg is just about healed so she will be able to get up.  That could also mean that she could go home next week!

Opportunity Drawing:

$307.00 in the pot with only 8 marbles.  Lucky Ted Wilmsen had the right ticket, but the raffle gods were not with him today.  He gets the $10.00 and puts it in the Polio Pail. The pot rolls over to next week!

Announcements:

  1. The Football Pool results are in: Steve Olson won $100.00 for the first quarter. Karen Sites (Valley of the Moon Club), the lucky dog, won the 2nd and 3rd quarters for $400.00.  Bill Hatcher had the final score and won $500.00.  He donated $100.00 to the Jameson Merit Scholarship.  Upon hearing that, so did Steve Olson.
  2. District Assembly is on Saturday, April 6. This is a really fun day of all things Rotary.  The cost is $60.00 and the first 10 who sign up will get reimbursed.  Rumor has it if we have more than 10 going, President Ann will convince her board to reimburse all.
  3. Paul Harris Bucks were awarded to Rich Rossi and Kris Anderson for helping Matthew Henry with the Facebook Giro Bello page. Check out that flyer that Robert Pierce has done for the Giro Bello.  Your bulletin editor thinks he deserves so Paul Harris Bucks too!
  4. The Giro Bello is on Saturday, June 29th. Clear your calendar to work that day.  We have 27 riders thus far. 573 to go!
  5. It is National Future Farmers of America week. Steve Olson suggests a donation to the Jamison Merit Scholarship in honor of the occasion. Click here for flyer
  6. Casey D’Angelo says he has eight volunteers that are willing to do some reading for 45 minutes once a week at the Rosland Boys and Girls Club. He would like 10 or more volunteers.
  7. The “Why?” books for the Santa Rosa Elementary Schools have been ordered! They should be here in about a month. There are 11 elementary schools, and we hope to deliver to all of them.
  8. Jeff Gospe says another $17,000 – $20,000 will be sent to Ukraine this week to buy more batteries and generators.
  9. The mental health cards on the tables were provided by District Governor Tom Boylan. If you see someone in need, hand them a card.  He will provide more as needed.

Auction!

Jeff and Patty Kolin brought back a vase from Costa Rica to be auctioned to raise money for the club.  Bill Hatcher won the bidding at $150.00.  What we did not know is that President Ann was going to match the winning bid with $150.00 Paul Harris Bucks!

A second raffle was for a round of golf for four people at Bennett Valley Golf Course, two carts and $50.00 to spend in the bar/restaurant.  John Poremba won this raffle for $250.00.  What a deal!

The Inflation Reduction Act and it’s place in climate protection

Kevin Conway was here today to talk about the climate protection parts that were included in The Inflation Reduction Act.  If I heard right, there is several billions worth of rebates and tax credits that are available now or coming soon to help the consumer to afford: induction stoves/ovens, heat pump water heaters, solar energy and battery backup, HVAC, new/used electric cars.  The amounts and what is available is always changing so it is best to talk to Sonoma Clean Power, Bay REN, or Sonoma County Climate Action and Resilience.

  1. Get a home energy audit.  They cost about $450.00, but you will get a credit back for $150.00.
  2. Work with an energy advisor
  3. Electrify your home – TeeVax was recommended for appliances.
  4. Receive the tax credits and rebates
