Our Program for June 15th:
FUTURE DESIGN OF SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITIES
Aiding China’s Senior Housing Crisis
A delegation of Chinese business people touring 50 U.S. senior-living facilities early last fall saw some things at Healdsburg Senior Living that they had not seen before. Just a few months later Tony Fisher and Rob Matthews found themselves in Chongqing, China as hired advisors for the creation of a massive development for 22,000 senior citizens involving 13 34-story residential towers, a lake and a 400 bed hospital.
Tony Fisher will share with us this “surreal” experience, why serving our senior citizens is his passion and what makes Healdsburg Senior Living a model for not only China to replicate, but all involved in the care of seniors everywhere.

Jackie McMillan thanked members who brought programs to the club on a wide variety of subjects.
CRAFT TALK
Red Badger, Carolyn Fassi gave her Craft Talk today. She had a varied 35 year career including working in DC during the Aids Crisis in the 1980’s. She has lived and worked in a variety of setting s including South Dakota, of all places. In each location, she made her mark and left it better than when she arrived.
JUNE BIRTHDAYS
PROGRAM
The program today was a songwriter workshop with two very talented and funny singer songwriters, introduced by Layne Bowen. Michael Capella and Teresa Tudury shared stories and songs that each has written and performed over the years. Coincidentally, each has been touched by Rotary in the past. Teresa’s father was a Rotarian in South San Francisco where she grew up. She said that she could feel the warmth in the room and that it gave her a good feeling about her father to know that he was involved in such a great organization. Michael, it turns out was a Rotary scholarship recipient out of high school in Sacramento.
Both singers sang songs and answered questions from the audience about the music business and songwriting. The highlight of the program had to be when Teresa had the audience singing along to her hilarious song Chinese Underwear. Both artists brought copies of their recordings and each sold a number of copies after the meeting to Rotarians. Thanks for supporting local music, folks!
