Ukraine Disaster Assistance Project
Begins New Initiative to Bring “Power For The People”

Our newest initiative aims to raise $70,000 to purchase and distribute generators and battery packs for Ukraine.  This is a four Rotary Club partnership (Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa East/West, Rosenheim-Innstadt, Germany, and Cherkasy-Centre, Ukraine), working together to fundraise, procure, and distribute the equipment. It is winter in Ukraine, and many communities are without power for extended periods and urgently need assistance. Your generosity helped fund $200,000 in contributions last year for first aid kits in Ukraine, and we hope you will help again with the current phase of our project.

Your donations will be made to our established non-profit foundation account “Santa Rosa East Rotary Foundation”  for the sole benefit of this project.  The Foundation’s tax EIN is 68-0374168. For individuals wishing to pay by check, please make them payable to Santa Rosa East Rotary Foundation and mail it to P.O. Box 2785; Santa Rosa, CA 95405.  Please write “Cherkasy” on the memo line.

Please join us in helping the people of Ukraine by donating to this special fund, exclusively used for this purpose.

Dear Club Members and Potential Donors,

The plight of the people in war-torn Ukraine has touched us deeply, so we are spearheading a campaign through the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa www.santarosarotary.com and the Rotary Club of Santa Rosa East/West https://sreastwestrotary.org  to raise $70,000 for the purchase and distribution of generators and battery packs for use in hospitals, apartment blocks, shelters, warming centers, etc.

This is a four Rotary Club partnership (Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa East/West, Rosenheim-Innstadt, Germany, and Cherkasy-Centre, Ukraine), working together to fundraise, procure, and distribute the equipment. “Power for the People describes what we are doing, and “Life without Electricity in Ukraine,” by Svitlana, a past President of the Rotary Club of Cherkasy-Centre Ukraine, eloquently expresses why we are doing it.

This equipment is not inexpensive, ranging from $700 – $2000 per unit; however, with Rotarians working together at every point along the way, you can be assured that your funds will be carefully spent with zero added expenses, and the equipment will get to where it is most needed. Our new Rotary friends in Germany will transport the equipment across Poland, a 500-mile trip to the Ukraine border, where it will be handed over to the Ukraine Rotarians.

I hope you can contribute generously to this campaign, but donations of any size are appreciated and fully tax-deductible. Please share this appeal with your friends and family.

Sincerely,
Curt Groninga, Rotary Club of Santa Rosa
Jeff and Ann Gospe, Rotary Club of Santa Rosa
Jeff Kolin, Rotary Club of Santa Rosa
Fred Ptucha, Santa Rosa East/West Rotary Club
Dan Lambert, Santa Rosa East/West Rotary Club

Your generous contribution will make a difference in saving lives.
